The Sports Initiative of DURBAR

Durbar Mahila Samanwaya Committee (DMSC) took an initiative to build-up a sports team comprising around 100 children of sex workers from various red light areas and other indigenous communities like 'Shabar' from rural areas of West Bengal State of India. DMSC has taken an innovative process to provide opportunities to the children of various marginalized communities and bring out the talents in the lime-light through Self Regulatory Board. Rahul Vidya Niketan, Baruipur, is the main sports center of DMSC where a sports complex is slowly cropping up which is being prepared by Durbar's own initiative. The children from various marginalized communities are coming regularly for practice under guidance and coaching of renowned ex-footballer Mr. Biswajit Majumdar. Till date DMSC does not have any external financial support for the purpose of sports apart from their mother's love and little contribution as per their capacity.

Activities and Success till date
	Sajjad Ali' child of a sex worker has got selected and is playing for the West Bengal State level 'under-fourteen' football team since December 2009
	The under fourteen team of Durbar has got the necessary clearance to participate in the Indian Football Association (IFA) Nursery League in the year 2010. Recently the team has become the Runners in an all Bengal under fourteen tournament arranged by Boalia Yuva Sangha Club of Garia, Kolkata.
	Recently Durbar has organized innovative sports at 'Amlasole' among the 'Shabar' community where around 200 'Shabars' participated in various sport events. This is the first time the 'Shabar' participated in any sports event. All the sports events were innovatively composed and were based on their real life practices.
Future Plans
	To provide formal sports opportunities to the children of various marginalized communities and bring out the talents in the lime-light.
	Development of the Rahul Vidya Niketan as an International level sports complex which will include. Football Ground Swimming Pool Basketball Ground Volleyball Ground State-of-the-Art Multi Gym
	Build strong network with national and international sporting agencies.
